"When you have guests under your roof, you serve not just good food--you are responsible for their happiness as well"--Brillat-Savarin

Meadows Inn Breakfast
Breakfast at "The Meadows" is enjoyed at one of three settings, dependent on the weather and the number of guests we have. All three settings are comfortable and enjoyable, but without a doubt, the favorite location for breakfast is on the patio. We have breakfast on the patio quite often in the late Spring, Summer and early Fall months. The virtually mosquito-free environment makes it a pleasurable experience. When weather dictates that we eat inside, the kitchen and dining room are most enjoyable, with the number of guests determining where we have breakfast.

The weekend breakfast may be prepared buffet-style, served family-style, or it may be indiv class="one"idually table-served if we have a small number of guests. It is typically set at 9:00am with early morning coffee and a snack available in the upstairs sitting room, at 7:00am.

Our weekday breakfast is made-to-order from a more limited menu, including eggs, pancakes, waffles, and omelettes, with sides of bacon, ham, or sausage. It includes early morning coffee available in the upstairs sitting room, at 7:00am.

With advance notice, we are able to cater to most special-needs for guests who have limitations on what they can eat. Examples may include guests with allergies, lactose intolerance, diabetes, etc.

We make our breakfast special by using the best
fresh, local, organic products as much as possible!

Morning and Afternoon Snacks & Beverages
In the morning, we deliver freshly ground rich coffee and a snack (such as banana bread, lefse, scones, muffins, etc.) to the upstairs parlor for our guests to enjoy. While you enjoy the morning treats, your hosts are busy preparing your breakfast showcasing local meats, produce, and fruits whenever possible.
In the late afternoon, our guests are welcome to enjoy complementary wine or other beverages, and a selection of snacks which may include freshly baked goodies, nuts, cheeses, crackers, spreads, or other treats.

Use of local and organic food
At our B & B, we strive to use local and organic food whenever practical.

  • We support Featherstone Fruits & Vegetables, a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) organic farm located about three miles from our B & B. We receive fresh, certified organic produce once a week from early June through the end of October.
  • We are a member of Lanesboro Local, an organization that connects local growers, producers and artisans with consumers and businesses.
  • We use our local IGA, Rushford Foods, extensively
  • We frequently offer Norseland Lefse, made right here in Rushford
  • In the fall we get apples from Kyle Colbenson's Wind Turbine Orchard just north of town
  • We offer soda to our guests that comes from the Spring Grove Soda Pop Company just a few miles from our B & B
  • and last, but not least, Marie has her own sourdough starter that is about twelve years young!! From this, she makes sourdough bread, French toast, and pancakes. (She may even share the starter with you if you ask her nicely!)
